Heterointerface Effects on Lithium-Induced Phase Transitions in Intercalated MoS2

چکیده
The intercalation-induced phase transition of MoS2 from the semiconducting 2H to semimetallic 1T? has been studied in detail for nearly a decade; however, effects heterointerface between and other two-dimensional (2D) crystals on have largely overlooked. Here, ab initio calculations show that intercalating Li at MoS2–hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) interface stabilizes 1T over by ?100 mJ m –2, suggesting encapsulating with hBN may lower electrochemical energy needed transition. However, situ Raman spectroscopy hBN–MoS2–hBN heterostructures during intercalation Li+ shows occurs same applied voltage heterostructure as bare MoS2. We hypothesize predicted thermodynamic stabilization 1T?–MoS2–hBN is counteracted an barrier imposed steric hindrance heterointerface. voltages upon heating heterostructure, which supports our hypothesis. Our study highlights interfacial 2D can go beyond modulating electrical properties modify behaviors.

Effect of turbostratic disorder on the staging phase diagram of lithium-intercalated graphitic carbon hosts.
The staging phase transitions which occur during the intercalation of lithium in graphitic carbons were probed by in situ x-ray-diffraction and electrochemical methods. Turbostratic disorder ~a random rotation or translation between adjacent graphene layers! in graphitic carbons ~heat treated above 2200°C! affects the formation of staged phases because lithium does not insert between randomly s...
متن کاملEffects of Phase Transitions on Mantle Convection
Mantle convection--the creeping flow of solid mantle rock driven by buoyancy forces predominantly arising from thermal expansion--is the accepted paradigm for explaining the internal geological activity of the Earth. Its theoretical understanding is largely based on the simple concept of RayleighB6nard convection. Here, one assumes a fluid layer of infinite lateral extent and constant material ...
متن کاملNoise-induced transitions vs. noise-induced phase transitions
I will briefly review the field of noise-induced phase transitions, emphasizing the main differences with the phase-induced transitions and showing that they appear in different systems. I will show that a noise-induced transition can disappear after a suitable change of variables and I will also discuss the breaking of ergodicity and symmetry breaking that occur in noise-induced phase transiti...
متن کاملNUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE PHASE TRANSITIONS IN CLUSTERS
We have studied the phase transitions in atomic clusters by molecular dynamics simulation, assuming Lennard-Jones interatomic pair potential. Calculations are performed by DAP parallel computer. The results are analyzed by simulating their orientational distribution plots (dot-plot), and neutron diffraction patterns. It is shown that all the main features of the bulk phase transitions are e...
